It's with a little apprehension that I embark on a final Confrontation journey. The only gang I've not yet painted are the scavvies - once I've completed a scavvy gang, I will have "completed" the Confrontation range. At least I've saved the best 'til last!
I plan to paint the scavvies in a couple of chunks. First up are the four Marauder scavvies sculpted by Aly Morrison. Aly's sculpts are always fun to paint with nice chunky details and characterful faces. I started with the two sporting fancy headgear!
A pair of scavvies scour the underhive for gear. |
I spent a long time trying to work out a nice colour scheme on the scavvies. I didn't want it to be too brown and dingy, but at the same time it couldn't be clean and bright. I ended up on a trio of complementary colours (teal, yellow and purple) that I planned to use alongside some dirty browns, cream, grey and black. In hindsight, I wish the colour scheme wasn't quite as 'Boba Fett', but at least it works!!
I used the same unhealthy skin tone for the scavvies as I did for my Paul Muller cultists. On this first guy, I really like the bright flash of the yellow headscarf.
I wasn't 100% happy with the original finish to the colour scheme. I later came back and added the brown stripes to the tabard, which broke up a clean flat surface and added some nice additional detail.
I'm particularly pleased with the hazard stripes on his gas cannister. |
I'm really pleased with how this pair turned out. Can't wait to tackle the remaining Marauder scavvies next, then it'll be on to the Goodwin sculpts.
Looks like you're ending that journey in the most spectacular way, I can already tell it's going to be fantastic through and through
ReplyDeleteThanks JB. It'll be nice to finish up with a grand finale!
DeleteThey both look fantastic, I love their aspect, with that main subdued palette and then a flash of colour. Truly great job!
ReplyDeleteThanks Suber! I think the brighter synthetic colours are important on Necromunda & Confrontation figures - just as long as the balance is right.
DeleteWhat a lovely journey. I'm pretty sure the autogun hat guy featured in my highschool friends chaos cultists. Very suspicious.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave. Crikey, those chaos cultists must have been an unhealthy and suspicious lot!
DeleteGreat figures, and I think you've really nailed the palette: subdued but not boring.
ReplyDeleteBill.
Thanks Bill, really appreciate it!
DeleteLove those two figs -- they look great! Looking forward to seeing the rest of the clan.
ReplyDeleteThanks, they're brilliant sculpts aren't they?!
